It’s August and the Festivals of South Asia Inc (FOSAI) is set to rock Wyndham with three back-to-back festivals. The two days of festivities at Werribee Race Course — which include the India Day, South Asian Food Festival and International Food Festival — begin on 15 August to coincide with India’s Independence Day. Festival organizers promise song and spice, dance and delight, all through the two days of merriment.
“The idea behind hosting the festival of culture, art and food, is to experience the joy of celebrating India’s Independence Day,” says Hari Yellina, secretary of FOSAI. “I feel it’s our duty to build an event that helps younger generations understand the relevance of the day,” he adds.
The first half of August 15 will be focused on parades and the flag hoisting. The second half is about entertainment, food and culture. Parts of Werribee Race Course will be converted into large heated area for the two days with big marquees and food stall areas, and celebrations of art, pottery, yoga, cooking, and much more.
