In December 2014, a group of people from different walks of life decided to join hands to empower the Indian presence in multicultural Australia. In less than a year, Festivals Such of South Asia Inc (FOSAI) has grown into one of the largest associations in the western suburbs. And now aims to become the largest of its kind in Melbourne.
FOSAI is a democratic, secular, non political entity, and comprises a conglomerate of independent organizations and individuals, who have come together in membership to work in mutual harmony, respect and integrated purpose to nurture, promote, foster, and raise awareness, unity and pride in Indian heritage in multicultural Australia.
We attempt to facilitate opportunities and assist members to showcase India’s art, culture, heritage, style, and tradition via various activities and events that embrace the community at large, including members of the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender fraternity.
FOSAI liaises with other organisations to promote those connected with Indian cultural activities. All the events are organized through fund-raisers and sponsorships.
In 2015, we set the ball rolling with a Holi celebration, which saw Australians and Indians attend from all over the country. Coming up next for 2015 is the Indian Food Festival. We look forward to your participation.
